Rhapsody for violin and orchestra by Grażyna Bacewicz premieres in UK and Germany
Grazyna Bacewicz’s Rhapsody is an orchestral gem with romantic and expressive elements, lively rhythms and dances. The piece by the Polish composer, who ranks among her country’s most important, has rarely been performed in concert since its premiere in 1950 – the DSO is giving it its long-overdue German premiere and BBC Symphony Orchestra is giving a UK Premiere.
Southkorean violinist Bomsori Kim will play the composer’s long-lost Rhapsody for Violin and Orchestra in upcoming concerts at the Philharmonie in Berlin with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester on November 22, 2026 and at the Barbican in London with the BBC Symphony Orchestra on February 5, 2027.
Bomsori Kim serves as the PWM Edition’s Ambassador of Grażyna Bacewicz’s music, promoting the legacy of the prominent 20th-century Polish composer worldwide.
